MC5's Michael Davis Breaks A Leg On Stage - Literally
Michael Davis broke his right femur Saturday, April 21, 2007, at the Taurus Rokkarolla in Turin, Italy. He fell from a concrete ramp while exiting to the backstage area after a special guest performance with Italian rockers OJM. He awaited surgery to repair the broken bone, after which he returned home to Los Angeles. This was the fourth show in OJM's 12-city tour of Italy, France, Switzerland and Spain to promote their release "Under The Thunder" (Go Down Records), produced by Davis. Reluctantly, OJM completed the tour without Michael, but they were determined to rock hard enough every night to make him as proud of them as they are of the record he created with them.
Michael appeared as special guest on Dave Marsh's Sirius Radio program "Kick Out The Jams" on Sunday, May 13th, 2007, to discuss the Music Is Revolution Foundation, and performed with former MC5 manager John Sinclair at Jimmy's Diner in New York City the same night. From his hospital bed in Citta, Italy, Michael's message was this: "I would really appreciate it if, from now on, nobody tells me to break a leg when I go on stage."

The Music Is Revolution™ Foundation is receiving applications for many mini-grants. It is our intention to fulfill as many requests as we can. Your contributions are most appreciated. Thank you to all of you who have sent donations. We are committed to the punk rock, D.I.Y. style lowest overhead imaginable so that we can get the money raised straight to the teachers and the students. And it is working. We are grateful to all of you who contribute your time and resources so that we are not a big, bloated, non-profit machine with huge expenses and a gauntlet for teachers to run just for the "privilege" of competing for funds. We are very pleased with the feedback that teachers all over the country are giving us and even more pleased that we are all a Part of the Solution.

Thank You to Thunder Watso of Greasedaddy Productions for holding the very first benefit concert for Music Is Revolution™. The money raised helped fulfill our first grant request. Sixth grade teacher Rebecca Caruso of Cleveland Elementary School in Pasadena, California is the very first recipient of a Michael H. Davis The Music Is Revolution™ Mini-Grant. Ms. Caruso's class will benefit from a project called "Beyond The Notes" in which Ms. Caruso will integrate Classical, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Blues, Folk and Opera music into a six-week aspect of the Open Court Reading Program via CDs, computer software and workbooks. Ms. Caruso's students will gain a better understanding of these musical genres and of the cultural relevance of music thanks to this program.
